Selma Meerbaum-Eisinger

Selma Meerbaum-Eisinger was born in 1924 in Czernowitz, in Bukovina. She began writing poetry at the age of 15 and translated from French, Romanian, and Yiddish. After German troops entered the city in July 1941, she and her family were forced to live in the Czernowitz ghetto. In 1942, she was deported to the Michailowska labor camp in Ukraine, where she died on December 16, 1942.
