Sebastian Hartmann, born in Oberhausen in 1977, is a German politician and member of the Social Democratic Party (SPD). He joined the party in 1993 and initially became involved in local politics in the Rhein-Sieg district, serving among other roles as a Young Socialists and party chair, a member of the district council and deputy district administrator. He also worked as a personnel and organizational consultant and for Martin Schulz, President of the European Parliament. Hartmann was a member of the German Bundestag from 2013 to 2021, serving on the Committee on Transport and Digital Infrastructure and the Committee on Internal Affairs, among others. From 2018 to 2021, he chaired the SPD in North Rhine-Westphalia.
