Samuel Herzog (born 1966) studied art history in Basel and Bern. From 2002 to 2017, he was an editor for visual arts at the Neue Zürcher Zeitung. As a freelance author, he works at the intersection of art, literature and journalism, writing, among other subjects, about travel and culinary themes. In 2001, he created the fictional island of Lemusa, whose history and culture he has developed through literary and artistic projects, publications and online work. He also founded HOIO, a company that distributes spices from Lemusa.
