Salma Hage

Salma Hage is a Lebanese cookbook author and former professional cook. She comes from Mazarat Tiffah (Apple Hamlet) in the Kadisha Valley of northern Lebanon. She learned to cook from her mother, mother-in-law, and sisters-in-law. As the eldest of twelve children, she helped raise her eleven siblings and cooked for her extended family and professionally for more than five decades. Her books include The Lebanese Kitchen, The Middle Eastern Vegetarian Cookbook, The Mezze Cookbook, and Middle Eastern Sweets. The Middle Eastern Vegetarian Cookbook received the James Beard Award.
