Sabine Hedinger

Sabine Hedinger (born 1953) studied education, sociology, and youth and family law in Göttingen. In Gainesville, Florida, she worked with young victims of domestic violence and abuse and founded an alternative language school in Göttingen. She began working as a literary translator from English into German in 1984. Her translations include works by Joan Didion, Joyce Carol Oates, Bret Easton Ellis, Fay Weldon, Rachel Cusk, Norman Rush, and Susan Minot; among them is Bret Easton Ellis’s *Less Than Zero*. In 2000, she received the Ledig-Rowohlt Prize.
