Sabine Doering (born 1961) was Professor of Modern German Literature at Carl von Ossietzky University Oldenburg until 2021. From 2010 to 2018, she served as president of the international Hölderlin Society. As a co-editor, she worked on the Hölderlin Yearbook and several essay collections on Friedrich Hölderlin. She also worked as a literary critic for the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung for more than twenty years. Her publications include »Aber was ist diß?« Formen und Funktionen der Frage in Hölderlins dichterischem Werk (1992), Klassik. Geschichte und Begriff (with Gerhard Schulz, 2003), and Unterwegs zu Hölderlin. Studien zu Werk und Poetik (with Johann Kreuzer, 2015).
