Christian Wagenknecht

Christian Wagenknecht (1935–2020) was a German philologist and literary scholar. He studied in Göttingen and Münster, earned his doctorate in 1965, and completed his habilitation in 1970. From 1972 to 1998, he was a professor of German philology at the University of Göttingen. His research and publications addressed subjects including metrics, the Baroque, Goethe, Jochmann, and Karl Kraus. He also edited the 20-volume edition of Karl Kraus’s „Schriften“.
