Ruth Johanna Benrath

Ruth Johanna Benrath (born 1966) studied German, philosophy and history in Heidelberg. She has written novels, poetry, plays and radio dramas. Her first novel, Rosa Gott, wir loben dich, was published in 2009, followed by Wimpern aus Gras in 2011. In 2013, her youth play Klassenkämpfe received the prize of the Coburg Forum of Young Authors; she was also awarded the Kaas-und-Kappes Prize for Im Wald (da sind). Her radio drama Geh dicht dichtig! was named Radio Play of the Year in 2020, while Blume Wolke Vogel Fisch was selected as Radio Play of the Month. Her other works include the radio collage Sprache, mein Stern. Hölderlin hören and plays for children and young people.
