Rudolf Stichweh

Rudolf Stichweh (born 1951) is a German sociologist. His academic career has included professorships and visiting professorships in Bielefeld, Princeton, and Chicago, as well as a professorship at the University of Bonn. From 2006 to 2010, he served as rector of the University of Lucerne. His scholarly work focuses on world society theory, functional differentiation, sociocultural evolution, democracies and autocracies, and the history and sociology of science and universities.
