Roland Aigner developed firmware and software for medical in-vitro diagnostics from the age of 16. From 1998 onward, he worked on access-control systems. He contributed as a co-author within the Bluetooth Special Interest Group (Bluetooth SIG) and was a founding member of the NFC Forum, where he focused on ticketing and communications security. After working as head of development in the food-service technology sector, he founded Quipos Solutions GmbH in 2010. The company developed systems for secure mobile and offline-capable infrastructures in the events sector.
