Rodman Philbrick

Rodman Philbrick grew up on the New England coast and began writing stories secretly in sixth grade. Before becoming known as an author, he worked as a dockworker, shipbuilder, and carpenter. After writing about a dozen novels for adults, he wrote his first book for young readers at a publisher’s request: Freak the Mighty. The novel brought him recognition and was adapted into a film.
