Richard Wagamese

Richard Wagamese (1955–2017) was a Canadian writer and an Indigenous First Nations voice. He published 15 books and received several awards, including the Canada Reads audience prize from Canada’s public broadcaster for his novel *Der gefrorene Himmel*. The novel’s film adaptation, produced by Clint Eastwood, also received awards. Separated from his parents as a child, Wagamese grew up in institutions and foster families and was reunited with his family at the age of 23.
