Richard von Schirach

Richard von Schirach (1942–2023), born in Munich, was a sinologist, writer, and translator from Chinese. He was known in part for translating and editing the autobiography of Pu Yi, the last emperor of China, which was later adapted by Bernardo Bertolucci into the film The Last Emperor. His own works include the autobiography Der Schatten meines Vaters (2005) and the nonfiction book Die Nacht der Physiker (2012).
