Raymond Roussell

Raymond Roussel (1877–1933) was a French writer and poet. Born in Paris into a wealthy family, he initially attended a music conservatory before turning to poetry. He published his first work, “La Doublure,” at the age of 19. Among his best-known works is “Impressions d’Afrique” (1909). The theatrical adaptations of his works, which were accompanied by scandals, made him well known in Paris. Roussel died in Palermo in 1933.
