Rainer Schwarz, born in 1947, grew up in East Berlin and studied there. He initially worked for the Academy of Sciences of the GDR and later worked as a freelance interpreter and translator of Chinese and Russian. In autobiographical sketches, he described, among other things, the life and challenges of a scientist in the GDR.
