Rafael Buschmann

Rafael Buschmann (born 1982) is a German journalist. He joined Der Spiegel in 2010, initially working in the sports department before becoming a reporter covering investigative subjects. In 2016, he and colleagues received the Henri Nannen Award for an exposé on the alleged purchase of the 2006 FIFA World Cup; that same year, Medium Magazin named him Sports Journalist of the Year. Together with Michael Wulzinger, he published the bestseller “Football Leaks,” which examined dealings in professional football. In 2018, the two were named Business Journalists of the Year for their research.
