Qiu Miaojin (1969–1995) was a Taiwanese writer and is regarded as one of Taiwan’s most important lesbian authors. She studied psychology at National Taiwan University and clinical psychology at Paris VIII University. Her first published story, “Prisoner,” won the Central Daily News Short Story Prize, while her novella “Lonely Crowds” received the United Literature Association Award. During her time in Paris, she directed the 30-minute film “Ghost Carnival.” Qiu Miaojin died by suicide in 1995. She was posthumously awarded the China Times Literature Honor Award.
