Philipp Mattheis

Philipp Mattheis, born in 1979, studied philosophy and attended the German School of Journalism. He worked as a foreign correspondent for various German media, including Stern, Capital, WirtschaftsWoche, Der Standard, Süddeutsche Zeitung and its SZ Magazin. From 2011 to 2016 and from 2019 to 2021, he reported from Shanghai; from 2016 to 2019, he covered Turkey and the Middle East from Istanbul. Mattheis is the author of several books, including The Dirty Silk Road, published by Goldmann in 2023.
