Peter Sternagel

Peter Sternagel was born in 1933 in Waldenburg, Silesia. After training as an actor in Munich and Berlin and appearing in several films, he studied history and earned a doctorate in 1965. He subsequently held various positions with the Goethe-Institut in Indonesia and Japan. His translations from Indonesian included works by Ayu Utami, Umar Kayam, and Andrea Hirata.
