Peter Heller

Peter Heller was born in New York City in 1959. He is the author of novels and narrative nonfiction and has also written for magazines. His debut novel, *The Dog Stars*, was published in 2012, became a New York Times bestseller, and was translated into 22 languages. Heller’s novels and nonfiction books have received several awards. Before becoming a writer, he worked variously as a dishwasher, construction worker, lumberjack, deep-sea fisherman, kayak instructor, and river guide.
