Peter Geimer (born 1965) is an art historian. After positions at the Max Planck Institute for the History of Science in Berlin, ETH Zurich, and Bielefeld University, he became professor of modern and contemporary art history at Freie Universität Berlin in 2010. In 2022, he became director of the German Centre for Art History in Paris. His research has focused on the history and theory of photography, the visual representation of history, history painting, film, and the history of science. His publications include Bilder aus Versehen (2010), Derrida ist nicht zu Hause (2013), and Fliegen. Ein Porträt (2018).
