Peter Carey (born 1943 in Australia) is an Australian writer. He received the Booker Prize in 1988 for “Oscar and Lucinda” and in 2001 for “True History of the Kelly Gang.” In 1998 he was awarded the Commonwealth Writers’ Prize. His other works include “My Life as a Fake,” “Theft: A Love Story,” “The Chemistry of Tears,” “Amnesia” and “Wrong About Japan”.
