Percy Adlon, born in Munich in 1935, initially worked as an announcer, radio writer and presenter for Bayerischer Rundfunk. He subsequently began his career as a director. His first feature film, The Guardian and His Poet (1977), received the Adolf Grimme Award in Gold. His other award-winning works include Five Last Days (1982) and Bagdad Café (1987), released in German-speaking markets as Out of Rosenheim.
