Otto de Kat

Otto de Kat was born in Rotterdam in 1946 and studied Dutch literature at Leiden University. He worked as a critic, editor, and publisher. He became known in particular for the novel *Julia*; his books, which often dealt with painful historical subjects, were translated into several languages.
