Omar El Akkad

Omar El Akkad was born in Egypt, grew up in Qatar, and moved to Canada as a teenager. He worked as a journalist and war correspondent, reporting on the war in Afghanistan, the Guantánamo trials, and the Black Lives Matter movement in Ferguson. His debut novel, American War, has been translated into numerous languages and received several awards.
