Olaf Matthias Roth, born in 1965, studied Romance languages and literature and German studies, and earned a doctorate with a dissertation on the Italian poet Gabriele d’Annunzio. He has worked as a literary translator from Italian, French, and English, translating authors including Bernard-Henri Lévy, Tiziano Scarpa, Jim Dodge, Samuel Benchetrit, and Michel Bussi. Roth has also published several nonfiction books on classical music.
