Norbert Hummelt (born 1962 in Neuss) studied German and English literature in Cologne. He has worked as a poet, essayist, translator and author of literary radio features. His poetry collections include Zeichen im Schnee (2001), Stille Quellen (2004), Totentanz (2007), Pans Stunde (2011), Fegefeuer (2016) and Sonnengesang (2020). He also published the prose book Der Atlas der Erinnerung (2018) and the literary exploration 1922 (2022). Hummelt translated T. S. Eliot’s The Waste Land and Four Quartets into German and edited a volume of poems by W. B. Yeats. His awards include the Rolf-Dieter-Brinkmann Prize, the Mondseer Poetry Prize, the Niederrhein Literature Prize, the Hölty Poetry Prize and the Rainer Malkowski Prize.
