Nevfel Cumart

Nevfel Cumart (born 1964 in Lingenfeld, Germany) is a German writer, journalist, and translator. He studied Turkology, Arabic studies, and Islamic studies; some sources also list Iranian studies among his fields. As a translator, he translated works by authors including Yaşar Kemal, Aziz Nesin, and İnci Aral. Cumart published poetry collections in German, Turkish, and English and gave lectures and seminars on Turkey-related subjects and Islam. He received the E.ON Kulturpreis Bayern in 2008 and the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany in 2014.
