Moshe Zimmermann (born 1943 in Jerusalem) is an Israeli historian and author. After studying history and political science in Jerusalem and Hamburg, he received his doctorate from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem in 1977. He taught modern and German history there and directed the Richard Koebner Center for German History from 1986 to 2012. His research focused on nationalism and antisemitism, German-Jewish history, German-Israeli relations, and the cultural history of sport. His books include Deutsche gegen Deutsche (2008) and Die Angst vor dem Frieden (2010). Zimmermann received, among other distinctions, the Humboldt Prize in 1993, the Jakob and Wilhelm Grimm Prize in 1997, and the Lessing Prize for Criticism in 2006.
