Montserrat Roig

Montserrat Roig (1946–1991) was a Catalan writer and journalist from Barcelona. She published her first collection of short stories in 1971 and received the Victor Català Prize for it. Her first novel, Die Frauen vom Café Nuria, appeared in 1972. Her other works include Als wir von den Kirschen sangen (1977), Die violette Stunde (1980), and several further collections of short stories. Alongside her literary work, Roig produced extensive journalism, including Els catalans als camps Nazis (1977), a notable work of research on Catalans in Nazi camps. She was politically engaged throughout her life and died in Barcelona in 1991.
