Michel Friedman

Michel Friedman, born in Paris in 1956, is a lawyer, philosopher, journalist and broadcaster. From 2000 to 2003, he served as deputy chair of the Central Council of Jews in Germany and as editor of the weekly Jüdische Allgemeine; from 2001 to 2003, he was president of the European Jewish Congress. Friedman has been an honorary professor since 2016. Until 2022, he headed the Center for Applied European Studies at Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences, which he co-founded. He has moderated programs for Deutsche Welle and hosted political discussion series. Friedman is a recipient of the Goethe Plaque of the City of Frankfurt.
