Michaela Prinzinger

Michaela Prinzinger, born in Vienna in 1963, studied Byzantine studies, Modern Greek studies, and Turkology/Islamic studies, and earned a doctorate in Modern Greek studies at Freie Universität Berlin. From 1995 onward, she worked as a freelance author, interpreter, and translator from Greek. She has translated works by, among others, Petros Markaris, Rea Galanaki, Maria Stefanopoulou, and Ioanna Karystiani into German. Her awards include the Joachim Tiburtius Recognition Prize, the Literature Promotion Prize of the Neukölln Cultural Award, the German-Greek Translation Prize, and the Austrian State Prize for Literary Translation in 2015.
