Michael Moorcock (born 1939 in London) is a British writer. Since the 1960s, he has written fantasy, science fiction, thrillers and realist novels. As editor of the magazine New Worlds, he had a lasting influence on science fiction. He became internationally known especially for his stories about Elric of Melniboné, the pale swordsman. His work has received several awards, including the World Fantasy Award.
