Michael Meyer-Blanck, born in 1954, studied Protestant theology in Cologne, Mainz, Heidelberg and Göttingen. After working as a pastor in Bramstedt and as a lecturer at the Religious Education Institute in Loccum, he was Professor of Practical Theology at Humboldt University of Berlin from 1995 to 1997. He subsequently taught at the University of Bonn, where he was Professor of Practical Theology and Religious Education before becoming emeritus. Meyer-Blanck chaired the EKD Liturgical Conference from 2006 to 2019 and the Scientific Society for Theology from 2011 to 2017. His research focused on religious education, liturgy and fundamental questions of practical theology.
