Mesut Bayraktar, born in Wuppertal in 1990, studied law in Düsseldorf, Lausanne and Cologne and philosophy in Stuttgart. In 2013, he co-founded the literary journal »nous – konfrontative Literatur« with Kamil Tybel. Bayraktar writes novels, short stories, plays and essays. His works include »Briefe aus Istanbul« (2018), »Die Belagerten« (2018), »Wunsch der Verwüstlichen« (2021), »Aydin – Erinnerungen an ein verweigertes Leben« (2021), »Der Pöbel und die Freiheit«, a book on G. W. F. Hegel (2021), »Gastarbeiter-Monologe« (2021), and the short-story collection »Die Lage« (2024). In 2019, he received a literature fellowship from the Kunststiftung Baden-Württemberg.
