Mercedes Lauenstein, born in 1988, is a writer and journalist. Since 2009, she has published essays and reportage as a freelance author in various newspapers and magazines. Her literary debut, *Nachts*, was published in 2015 and received the Bavarian Arts Promotion Award in 2016. Her novel *Blanca* followed in 2018. In 2015, she co-founded Splendido Magazin with Juri Gottschall, which later led to the publication of several cookbooks.
