Juri Gottschall

Juri Gottschall, born in 1979, is a photographer and author. He worked as a freelance photographer for publications including Süddeutsche Zeitung and Süddeutsche Zeitung Magazin, as well as for publishers and institutions in the fields of architecture, art, and culture. His work has focused on everyday architecture, Italy, consumer culture, reportage, and cookbook photography. He received several awards, including the Bavarian Press Photography Prize. In 2015, he co-founded the web magazine Splendido with Mercedes Lauenstein, for which they researched and wrote about Italy, quality products, cooking, and consumer culture. Their joint books include “Splendido. Italienisch kochen mit besten Zutaten und viel Gefühl” (2022), as well as “Splendido. Primavera/Estate” and “Splendido. Autunno/Inverno” (2025). Two of their books received the German Cookbook Prize.
