Author · 2 books

Mencius (c. 380–289 BCE) was a Chinese Confucian thinker. During the Warring States period, he sought a wise ruler capable of restoring peace and held conversations with numerous princes. These conversations were recorded in the work known as the *Mencius*, one of the Four Books of the Confucian canon. Mencius defended the teachings of Confucius and opposed the views of the followers of Mozi and Yang Zhu.
