Maximilian Funk

Maximilian Funk was born in Moscow in 1925 and moved to Austria with his family as a child. After the Second World War, he returned to Vienna from Soviet captivity. He initially worked as a manufacturer of cleaning products before entering the hospitality business. He ran a café on Vienna’s Ringstrasse as well as the Chattanooga snack bar and dance venue on the Graben. He later also worked as a manager for internationally touring music bands. In the 1990s, he revived the Chattanooga and Wiener Stadtbräu venues in central Vienna.
