Max Frisch (1911–1991) was a writer, dramatist, and architect from Zurich. After studying German, he turned to architecture and initially worked as a journalist and architect before becoming a full-time writer in 1955. He achieved his literary breakthrough with the novel “Stiller.” His best-known works include “Homo faber,” “I’m Not Stiller” (“Mein Name sei Gantenbein”), “The Fire Raisers” (“Biedermann und die Brandstifter”), “Andorra,” and “Montauk.” Frisch also published diaries, radio plays, and essays. His work received numerous honors, including the Georg Büchner Prize in 1958 and the Peace Prize of the German Book Trade in 1976.
