Matthias Knauff

Matthias Knauff, born in 1978, studied law in Würzburg. From 2002 to 2004, he was a research assistant at the University of Würzburg, where he also completed postgraduate studies in European law. He received his doctorate in 2004 and worked again as a research assistant in Würzburg from 2006 to 2009. After completing his habilitation in 2009, he held acting professorships at the universities of Würzburg and Freiburg. His professional career also includes a professorship in public law, particularly public economic law, at Friedrich Schiller University Jena, directing an institute for energy law and a research center for transport market law, and serving as a judge at the Higher Regional Court of Thuringia. His fields of expertise include public economic law, European law, and administrative law.
