Matthias Brandt, born in Berlin in 1961, is a German actor, author and audiobook narrator. He studied acting at the University of Music and Theatre in Hanover and worked at several theatres in Germany and Switzerland. From 2000 onward, he appeared in numerous television and film productions. He became known for roles including Detective Hanns von Meuffels in the series »Polizeiruf 110« and August Benda in »Babylon Berlin«. His acting has earned him several awards, including the Golden Camera, the Bavarian Television Award and the Grimme Award. He has also received the German Audiobook Award twice. As an author, he published the short-story collection »Raumpatrouille« and the novel »Blackbird«.
