Matthias Bormuth (born 1963) studied human medicine, specializing in psychiatry, in Marburg and Göttingen and received his doctorate with a thesis on Karl Jaspers. He became Professor of Comparative Intellectual History at the University of Oldenburg and held a Heisenberg Professorship there. Bormuth has edited writings by Hannah Arendt, Erich Auerbach, Karl Jaspers, and Max Weber. His publications include “Erich Auerbach – Kulturphilosoph im Exil” (2020), “Das Geisterreich. Kant und die Folgen” (2021), and “Hannah Arendt und Karl Jaspers. Versuch über die geistige Situation” (2023).
