Manfred Geier

Manfred Geier, born in 1943 in Troppau, studied German, philosophy and political science in Frankfurt am Main, Berlin and Marburg. In 1973 he received his doctorate for a study of Noam Chomsky’s linguistic theory. From 1982 to 1998, he was professor of German language and literature at the University of Hanover; he also taught at the University of Marburg. His main areas of work include biographies of philosophers, linguistics and cultural-political movements. His publications include “Kants Welt” (2003), “Die Brüder Humboldt” (2009), “Aufklärung. Das europäische Projekt” (2012), “Wittgenstein und Heidegger” (2017) and “Philosophie der Rassen. Der Fall Immanuel Kant” (2023).
