Mary MacLane

Mary MacLane (1881–1929) was a writer. Born in Winnipeg, Canada, she grew up in Butte, Montana. Her first book, »Ich erwarte die Ankunft des Teufels«, made her widely known in 1902. It was followed by the novel »Meine Freundin Annabel Lee« (1903) and further autobiographical writings. She also wrote the screenplay for the silent film »Men Who Have Made Love to Me« (1918), in which she played the leading role. MacLane was also known for her bohemian lifestyle and bisexuality. She died in Chicago in 1929.
