Martin Schmitz

Martin Schmitz, born in 1956 in Hamm, Westphalia, studied architecture, urban and landscape planning at the University of Kassel under Lucius Burckhardt. In 1983 he published the book “Über die Kultur der Imbißbude”. As a curator, he was responsible for the film program of documenta 8 in Kassel (1987), a conference on dilettantism in Görlitz (1995), an exhibition on “Die Tödliche Doris” in Berlin (1999), and an international congress on the science of walking in Frankfurt (2008), among other projects. From 1989 onward, he worked as a publisher of books on architecture, art, film, design, music, and literature. From 2013, he taught as a professor at the Kunsthochschule Kassel.
