Martin Lowsky

Martin Lowsky earned his doctorate in 1975 after studying Romance languages and literature, mathematics, and comparative literature in Tübingen and Heidelberg. He published work on mathematics and the relationship between mathematics and poetry, as well as essays and books on German and French literature, including studies of Karl May, Theodor Fontane, Theodor Storm, Arno Schmidt, Paul Valéry, and Voltaire. His books include “Karl May” (1987), “Arno Schmidts Hausgötter” (1991, edited with Thomas Krömmelbein), and “Camus/La Peste” (2017). Lowsky taught at a secondary school in Kiel and contributed to the editorial work of the “Jahrbuch der Karl-May-Gesellschaft” and “Forschungen zu Paul Valéry/Recherches Valéryennes”.
