Martin Doerry, born in 1955, is a historian with a doctorate. He studied German and history in Tübingen and Zurich and began his career at Süddeutscher Rundfunk in Karlsruhe. From 1987 to 2021, he worked as an editor for the news magazine Der Spiegel, serving as deputy editor-in-chief for 16 years. Doerry has published several books on contemporary history, including the biography of his grandmother Lilli Jahn, Mein verwundetes Herz. Das Leben der Lilli Jahn 1900–1944 (2002), and Nirgendwo und überall zu Haus. Gespräche mit Überlebenden des Holocaust (2006). With Susanne Beyer, he edited Mich hat Auschwitz nie verlassen. Überlebende des Konzentrationslagers berichten (2015).
