Markus Balser

Markus Balser, born in 1973, studied economics in Cologne and simultaneously attended the Cologne School of Journalism for Politics and Economics. From 2001 onward, he worked as a business editor for the Süddeutsche Zeitung, initially covering technology, energy, the environment and compliance. Together with colleagues, he investigated business scandals involving Siemens, Infineon, EnBW and Solar Millennium, among others. The team received the Henri Nannen Award for its work on the Siemens affair. From 2012 onward, Balser covered economic policy.
