Margot Friedlander

Margot Friedlander was born in Berlin in 1921. As a Jewish woman, she survived Nazi persecution, first living in hiding in Berlin for 15 months and later surviving the Theresienstadt concentration camp. Her parents and brother were murdered in Auschwitz. She emigrated to the United States in 1946. In 2010, she returned to Berlin and devoted herself to remembrance work. In recognition of her efforts, she was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit, First Class, in 2023.
